The Great Accuser

The 'Great Accuser' is another name for the devil. This piece could represent a certain British Prime Minster. On the far wall is a painting of two naked men called 'Dante and Virgil in hell' from Dante's Divine comedy. One man is biting another man's neck because he used fraud to claim another man's inheritance. There are many parts to this piece  - too many to elaborate on.

Aphrodite and the Irrelevant Souls

The piece is based on the barbaric practice of FGM. FGM is an expression of deeply rooted gender inequality. Some societies see it as a rite of passage. Others use it to suppress a girl’s sexuality or ensure her chastity. FGM is not endorsed by Islam or Christianity, but religious texts are commonly deployed to justify it.

The woman lying down represents the goddess of love (Aphrodite) and the irrelevant souls are the people performing the ritual (usually the mother or grandparents). Her mother (on the ladder) is dressed in her finest attire and heels for this (so called) proud moment. The animals, insects, etc are the symbols associated with the Goddess. The angry swan and bees clearly showing their discontent to what is going on.

pessimists survive - optimists die

Wake Up

Insecure 'utopians' have completely overreached their idea of correcting systemic exclusion, and 'muddied the waters' by excluding majority groups, while prioritizing identity over merit. This can all lead to a masking of authoritarian tendencies under the guise of moral clarity, tribalism and cancel culture, free speech then becomes eroded.

My 'Wake Up' art piece is a direct response to 'Wokeness' and how we as humans often 'overreach'.

But you elected a god, did you not?

'But You Elected a God, Did You Not? confronts the modern erosion of democratic values through a dystopian sci-fi lens.

These two pieces serve as a direct response to the erosion of democratic values in our society today. It's not just a vision of what could be - it's a grim mirror of what already is..

A Privileged View

My assemblage art piece 'A Privileged View' is based on the 'privileged' in society, especially economic or socially privileged, who can be out of touch with how policies, social integration, decisions, or cultural shifts effect working-class communities. Main stream media and the privileged need to listen rather than just resorting to labels or stereotypes.
